vii).KNOWING ALLAH THROUGH THE TEXT OF THE QUR’AN AND SUNNAH

The Divine Names and Attributes

We have already stated above that the second way in which we may know Allah (s.w.t), is through the texts of the Qur’an and ahaadeeth which speak directly about Allah, describing His attributes, names and actions.

This is a safe way which will give guaranteed results, because finding out about Allah through His words and the words of His Messenger leaves no room for doubt or confusion.

We have endeavoured to quote the texts themselves in most cases, because this is the best way to make the matter clear, and is better than quoting what people say. I have also sought not to distort the texts by misinterpreting them, as many previous writers have done in an attempt to make the verses agree with their human opinions and analogies, People must change their opinions and analogies to fit the texts and not the other way round.

v) How Allah guides the hoopoe, and the wonders of its creation

Ibn al-Qayyim tells us, in his eloquent manner, of another of Allah’s creatures which is mentioned in the Book of Allah, the hoopoe. Ibn al-Qayyim speaks of how Allah (s.w.t), guides and inspires it:

“The hoopoe is one of the most guided of animals, and the most able to see where water is located beneath the ground, which others cannot see. One of the ways in which it is guided is what Allah tells us in the Qur’an, where He tells us what the hoopoe said to the Prophet of Allah Sulaymaan (Solomon) (a.s), who had threatened him when he could not find him. When the hoopoe came, he immediately gave his excuse, before Sulaymaan could threaten him with the punishment. He addressed him in a manner that encouraged him to listen and accept what he said. He said:

“…I have grasped [the knowledge of a thing] which you have not grasped...”    (Qur’an 27: 22),

— which implied: I have brought you (news of) something which I know very well, and it is important and serious. Hence he said:

vi)Scholars Explain the Wonders that Allah has Made in His Creation :-AQEEDAH SERIES :- Sheikh Umar Al ashqar

Scholars — past and present — have explained the wonders of Allah in His creation. They exhort themselves thereby as they exhort others. We will quote below some of the conclusions reached by scholars of the past and the present.

Reading these quotes, the reader should bear in mind the words of Moosa (Moses) to Fir‘awn (Pharaoh):

“Our Lord is He Who gave to each thing its form and nature, then guided it aright.” (Qur’an 20: 50).

Allah (s.w.t), has given each thing that He has created which suits it, and has guided it to that which befits it... we will see examples of this giving and guiding below.

We have already stated that the Qur’an tackles this issue in two ways, to confirm this great reality;

a) It speaks of the perfection of Allah’s creation and describes the wonders of the universe which indicate the greatness of the Creator.

iv) Darwin’s Theory :- AQEEDAH SEREIS sheikh umar al ashqar

The supporters of this theory tried to use it to explain the existence of living beings. This theory is widespread; many people try to spread it with good intentions, because they think that it is a scientific fact, whilst others try to spread it with bad intentions, because it suits their desire, which is to prove religion wrong in its description of how man was created. Those who seek to undermine religion find evidence in science to support their stance and deceive people.

What does this theory say?

This theory claims that the origin of all creatures was small organisms which developed from water, then their environment changed them until new characteristics emerged in this life-form, and these characteristics, over millions of years, led to the development of more advanced characteristics which changed that primitive creature into a superior life form. This development of characteristics caused by the environment and evolution continued until it arrived at the appearance of man.

Sayings of Ibn Taymiyyah

  • Every Punishment from Him is pure justice and every blessing from Him is pure grace. [1]
  • Whoever desires everlasting bliss, let him adhere firmly to the threshold of servitude. [2]
  • The Lord is to be loved. [3]
  • Guidance is not attained except with knowledge and correct direction is not attained except with patience. [4]
  • In this world there is a paradise, whoever does not enter it will not enter the Paradise of the Hereafter. [5]
  • The one who is (truly) imprisoned is the one whose heart is imprisoned from Allah and the captivated one is the one whose desires have enslaved him. [6]
  • The whole religion revolves around knowing the truth and acting by it, and actions must be accompanied by patience. [7]
  • Worship is founded upon the Legal Law and following it, not upon ones basic desires and innovation. [8]
  • If you do not taste the sweetness of an action in your heart, suspect it, for the Lord, Exalted is He, is the Appreciative. [9]
  • The more the servant loves his Master, the less will he love other objects and they will decrease in number. The less the servant loves his Master, the more will he love other objects and they will increase in number. [10]
  • perpetually is the servant either the recipient of a blessing from Allah, in which case he is need of gratitude; or he is the perpetrator of a sin, in which case he is in need of repentance; he is always moving from one blessing to another and is always in need of repentance. [11]
  • Sins cause harm and repentance removes the cause. [12]
  • Bearing witness to Tauhid opens the door of good and repentance from from sins closes the door of evil. [13]
  • The Jihad against the soul is the foundation for the Jihad against the disbelievers and hypocrites. [14]
  • A man will never fear something besides Allah unless it be due to a disease in his heart. [15]
  • Trials and tribulation are like feeling the heat and cold, when one knows that they cannot be avoided, he will not feel anger at their onset, nor will he be distressed or disheartened. [16]
  • The perfection of Tauhid is found when there remains nothing in the heart except Allah, the servant is left loving those He loves and what He loves, hating those He hates and What He hates, showing allegiance to those He had allegiance to, showing enmity to those He shows enmity towards, ordering what He orders and prohibiting what He prohibits. [17]
  • In this world, man finds in the remembrance of Allah, praising Him and worshipping Him, a delight that is in comparable to anything else.[18]
  • The objective of asceticism is to leave all that harms the servants Hereafter and the objective of worship is to do all that will benefit his Hereafter. [19]
  • Sins are like chains and locks preventing their perpetrator from roaming the vast garden of Tauhid and reaping the fruits of righteous actions. [20]
  • What can my enemies do to me? I have in my breast both my heaven and my garden. If I travel they travel with me, never leaving leaving me. Imprisonment for me is a chance to be alone with my Lord. To be killed is martyrdom and to be exiled from my land is a spiritual journey. [21]

LOVE OF ALLAH:-

There is nothing comparable to Him in any of His Attributes, if you were to assume that the whole of creation was in its most exquisite form, and you were to try and compare their collective outward and inward beauty to the beauty of the Lord, the Glorious, the comparison would be more ineffectual than a faint torch being held against the blazing disk of the sun.
It is sufficient to know of His beauty that if His veil was lifted, everything that the splendour of His Face fell upon of His creation would be obliterated. It is sufficient to know that all beauty, external and internal, to be found in this world and the Hereafter is from the resultant effects of His work, so what then would one think of the beauty of the One from whom this beauty^ emanated? It is sufficient to know of His beauty that to him belongs nobility in its entirety, strength and power in its entirety, generosity and kindness in its entirety, beneficence in its entirety, knowledge in its entirety and grace in its entirety.From the light of His Face are all darknesses illuminated, as the
'Abdullah bin Mas’uud said, ‘there is no night and day with your Lord, the light of the heavens and the earth comes from the light of His Face.’  Therefore, He, the Glorious is the light of the heavens and the earth and on the Day of Judgement, when He comes to judge mankind. His light will illuminate the earth.
One of His Names is al-]amil (the Beautiful), in the Sahih it is reported from him (sal) that he said,
“Allah is Jameel and He loves beauty”.
His beauty is of four levels: the beauty of His Essence or Person {dhai), the beauty of His Attributes, the beauty of His Actions and the beauty of His Names.
All of His Names are beautiful, all of His Attributes are perfect, all of His Actions are based upon pure wisdom, they are beneficial, just and serve as a mercy....Lets start and immerse ourselves of this wonderfull journey about knowing Allah by His Names and attributes.
